'People are afraid' - the reasons 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the side to defeat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal are now numerous fans' favorites to win the Premier League this season.

Look at their performances against West Ham and Crystal Palace compared to those equivalent matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have beaten all of them this time around, but lost 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race last season.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's backline resilience is a crucial element why they are looking well positioned to finally fulfil their title target.

They rank top for unbreached games (6), goals allowed (3), opposition efforts (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their effectiveness from free kicks is widely recognized, but rival sides still struggle to neutralize the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just fearful of them and it is great to see."

Championship Credentials

What is particularly impressive about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they maintain victories, their historic competitors are struggling. This marks the premier instance at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the outset, having spent around £250m on eight summer additions in quest of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and boasting the most resilient defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Clean sheets in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and pundits have described Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now functioning with confidence and resolve.
